Arrived safe and sound...

After all the preparations, the excitement, I landed in Mexico.  I had memories of the first trip of Pope John Paul II when he got down from the plane and kissed the ground.

It was so difficult to leave home in Ottawa. Dad said it had never been my turn to be the one to go. All I can say is that I survived it. I probably didn't enjoy the process so much, but the actual moment when I saw my parents. They were so happy and so excited.

Mexico City has changed since the last time I stepped foot here. It seems that the number of cars continues to grow. I am an experienced driver, but yesterday´s drive from the airport to my parents house left me breathless!  However, no matter what the traffic or pollution may be, there is still beauty... as in the lovely jacaranda tree above.

Off to mass and breakfast. Back later.

  1. Oh it is one big fat city. And beautiful, tragic, heroic - it has texture and layers and requires a careful kind eye to see how wonderful it is.

    Have a splendid b'fast hotness!

    Love,

    K.
